The OGA Circle
Read, talk and unlearn together, in community.
Circle
Free knowledge, collective learning
The OGA Circle is a free, global, virtual circle for reading, reflection and community care. We gather around public-domain texts written by Black, Indigenous and racialized thinkers, with special attention to voices from the Global South.
We believe knowledge should be freed, not privatized, and that learning should build solidarity, not hierarchy.
Everyone is welcome, including allies from any background.
Why a circle
We all carry ways of thinking shaped by centuries of domination and erasure. Through critical reading and dialogue, the Circle invites us to unlearn what colonization taught about value, knowledge and power, and to turn reflection into action.
How it works
- Free texts: we read only public-domain works, legally accessible to everyone.
- One hour a month: short, focused virtual meetings. Camera is optional.
- Listening and respect: a space for collective inquiry and mutual care.
- Praxis: each meeting links what we read to what we do.
The first circle
The first circle will be in English, with up to 15 participants, to keep the conversation close. After you sign up, you join a private group where we set the date and time together. If spots are full, your registration goes on the waiting list.
Our agreements
- Centering BIPOC voices: honoring the experiences, ideas and agency of the authors we read and the communities they represent.
- Respectful dialogue: question ideas, not people.
- Speaking from “I”: sharing from your own position and experience.
- Unlearning in community: recognizing our shared work of dismantling colonial patterns of thought.
- Praxis at the center: reading is only the beginning.
What comes next
This is only the beginning. Future circles will open to new languages, regions and themes, from African liberation thought to Indigenous philosophy and Asian and Pacific Islander decolonial traditions. The idea is to grow interconnected circles around the world, each rooted in its own local reality.
