OGA — Opportunities for Grassroots Action — was born from a shared longing to reconnect with what truly matters. We are a volunteer-led initiative, a growing community of people who have grown disheartened with the corporate structures and systems that dominate the world today.
To name is to summon into being. To rename is to assert dominion.
From the river deltas of Nigeria to the forests of Abya Yala, from the Indian plains to the favelas of Brazil, the women of the South have long been rewriting what freedom means. Not freedom as something given, but as something reclaimed — from the bones of empires, the margins of history, and the silenced tongues of our mothers.
Lélia Gonzalez (1935-1994) was the voice that taught us to see colonialism from the inside out. An anthropologist, teacher, and fundamental thinker, she created Amefricanidade (Amefricanity) to unmask the farce of racial democracy and unite black and indigenous struggles.
